24 Best Cafes in Tel Aviv | Coffee Shops to Work From – Ultimate Guide

*updated July 2024

Tel Aviv is a coffee shop lover’s haven. Who doesn’t love the relaxing feeling of sitting down for a coffee with friends, pulling out a laptop, and getting some work down while sipping on a tasty drink? With a quaint, local café on almost every corner, Tel Aviv is a dream.

Since I started working as a freelancer, finding the best coffee shops has become almost a life goal. Personally, I tend to get a lot more done when I’m at a café. The busyness and the slight noise and the bustling streets keep me focused. And an iced coffee on a hot summer day in Tel Aviv? Couldn’t be any better. So here is my list of my favorite gems and go-to cafes to relax, work from, and enjoy. Oh and because it’s Tel Aviv (and everyone brings their dogs everywhere) all these cafes are dog friendly.

I’ve rated each one on a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) in the categories of food, convenience to work from, and vibes.

1. Little Prince – King of Great Vibes

Perhaps my favorite coffee shop in all of Tel Aviv. It wins the award for best vibes and best place to work from. A cozy and quaint indoor area is lined from top to bottom with countless books, old and new, English, Hebrew, Russian. Piping hot coffee topped with a foam heart. The ideal location to spend a few hours working, chatting, or just relaxing. The outdoor area, built around a beautiful tall tree is also certainly not to be missed. Even more books line the outskirts as locals play games of sheshbesh (backgammon), shaded by the extensive foliage.

They have recently changed locations, so these photos are a bit dated. But the new location is a very similar vibe!

7. We Like You Too – Fun and Casual

Trying to get a coffee on a Friday morning at We Like You Too can be a daunting task. The line is almost always backed up with a least twenty people. But I can assure you that it’s worth it. A local hotspot, this kiosk has two locations on Tel Aviv’s popular, tree-lined boulevards – Sderot Ben Tsiyon and Sderot Ben Gurion. A few tables are offered for the coffee-goers, but you’ll be lucky if you can get one. Most people prefer to casually relax on one of the many benches nearby or borrow one of their blankets to have a cute picnic on the grass.

Experience the Carmel Market “Shuk” in Tel Aviv with our Handmade Styles

The marketplace or the “Shuk” in the Middle East is a very special place. Spices of every color piled high, rows and rows of fruits and vegetables, all sorts of different vendors yelling out their prices and the goods they are offering as you pass by. Endless bargaining. It’s a very unique place. An essential Middle Eastern experience.

We live not too far from Tel Aviv’s main Shuk- Shuk HaCarmel, or the Carmel Market, located right in Central Tel Aviv. Always bustling, especially on Friday morning when the masses come to have Friday brunch at one of the many adorable cafes in the Yemenite Quarter (Keren HaTeimanim). Quaint apartment buildings, flower bushes everywhere, it has a very old fashioned vibe with small winding roads and cars always trying to squeeze down them (I always wonder how they don’t get stuck)

Knowing that most of the colors in the Shuk are reddish/yellow, we planned our outfits specifically for the visit. With this picnic style skirt and top set, originally made from a curtain (just like in Sound of Music), I fit right in. Check out our TikTok video here showing the before and after of this awesome vintage fabric.

Anddd so here is our absolute favorite juice shop in Israel. Not only do they sell amazing, fresh, and mostly organic juices, but they also have a wide variety of other super cool health products, lotions, acai bowls, and kombucha (which is not as common to find as it is in the states). It’s called Uzi-Eli the Etrog Man. A bit of a legend in Israel. The man who owns the shop (Uzi Eli) is such a character and persona, you simply have to meet him! He normally is only at the shop in Jerusalem, but his family works at the Tel Aviv branch, and they are all so sweet and friendly.

Now to the candy shops in the Shuk. There are multiple. They are tempting. If not only for the super bright and beautiful colors, but also for their sweet mix and match goodness. Anyone who knows me can vouch that I’m a sucker for any type of gummies, so this is certainly one of my favorite places.

Brooke here has on a cute vintage top, tied at the waist, and classic high waist jeans. The adorable wedges? Thrifted for $5 from our favorite thrift store right up the street.

Have you been to the Carmel Market in Israel?

Crochet Daisy Granny Square Crop Top in the Heart of Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a pretty hipster city. Vegan capital of the world. Riding bicycles all around. Just about every guy you see has a beard. Small coffee shops on every corner. The styles, the glasses, the look. So there’s that side of Tel Aviv…. but then there’s another side. The other side is the beach city. Chill vibes, crop tops, surfboards, tans, ICE CREAM.

So here we have a little combination of the two. Retro style HANDMADE crochet granny square crop top and thrifted jean dress on Brooke in the center of Tel Aviv. Somehow these two outfits just perfectly fuse together Tel Aviv’s split personalities.

So where should I start? Details about this awesome location or details about the fashion? Let’s go with the FASHIONN! At out house we always have bags full of excess materials, be it fabric or yarn or sewing materials. Sometimes we get too much, and knowing we’ll use it one day, we shove it in a bag and hope that one day it gets remembered. Well, sweet little brown yarn, looks like your day finally came. We originally got the yarn to make a little teddy bear for our friend’s new baby but clearly HUGELY overmastered how much we would need and we ended up with 3 extra spools of brown yarn. I really wanted to make a daisy granny square top (Yes, again), but the original plan was to have it black and yellow. BUT, then I looked in our bag of abandoned yarns and had to give this brown a chance. So switched around the colors a bit, and began to work on my brown and yellow daisy crop top.

And soo I began to crochet. Really, I love crocheting. It’s something pretty relaxing and easy to do whenever I have some free time; be it on the bus or while watching a movie or while sunbathing outside.

The great thing about this pattern is that it is SO VERSATILE. You can literally pick any pattern you have for granny squares (just do a quick search online and there are hundreds!!), any colors you want, make enough granny squares to fit two rows around your chest, and you’re good to go! Sew the granny squares all together, attach some simple straps and voila! A lovely retro daisy granny square crop top! Like all crochet, it definitely takes some time, but not too complicated, just repetitive.

Knowing we definitely wanted this top for a photo shoot (Brooke was supposed to make a coordinating top but she never got around to it), we then picked out an outfit for Brooke and headed out VERY early to Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv. This is one of the most popular areas in Tel Aviv and we, as usual, wanted to get pictures without people in the background, and so, as usual, we chose to be early risers.

Brooke is wearing an adorable jean dress that she found at a thrift store near our house for around $5. Paired with a simple white t-shirt and a pair of faux-leather thrifted shoes. Tel Aviv style.

Ok so now a little bit about this location. Dizengoff Square is one of the most iconic spots in Tel Aviv. Usually bustling with people, street performers, and picnickers – it is one of the best places for a coffee and friends meet up on a Friday morning.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This fountain, before recent construction/renovation work, used to be a bright rainbow display known as “Fire and Water” with daily evening shows of…can you guess it fire displays and water displays.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I really feel like this square and fountain is the heart of Tel Aviv. The amount of people I have accidentally come across while just passing by here on a Friday morning is remarkable! I am looking forward to one day hopefully (maybe) seeing the famous water and fire display that this place has to offer!

Also has anyone ever heard of Bauhaus architecture? Well Tel Aviv (and the Dizengoff area) boasts sooooo many Bauhaus style buildings built between the 1920s and 1940s. Simplest description of Bauhaus architecture if you’ve never heard of it….Modern/International style. I literally love the style of these buildings that can be found all over Tel Aviv. They give off a chic yet quaint European cafe vibe and make for an amazing backgrounds for a photo 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This retro looking hotel faces Dizengoff Center (remember yesterday’s fountain) and a whole array of similar looking buildings. Wish we had a drone to get a more aerial shot of some of the awesome coordinating architecture!

Speaking of quaint European style, not too far from Dizengoff is one of our favorite and cutest book shops in Tel Aviv. (Also here you can see better details of this awesome thrifted dress and the thrifted shoes! I feel like Brooke is really giving us some Belle vibes in front of the bookshop)

This bookshop, Pollack books, in literally a wonderland of English and Hebrew, old and new, stairways and piles and piles and piles of books. It really is a must see!

So if you are visiting Tel Aviv make sure to check these iconic locations out and look around at the style of native Tel Avivians.

Tel Aviv Street Fashion | Handmade High Waisted Shorts with Geometrical Print

When we took these photos about a week ago the rule in Israel for COVID-19 limited us from going more than 100 meters from our house for basically anything besides getting food and medical supplies. So we decided to get creative within the 100 meter limit. The highlights of this shoot include the following high wasted handmade shorts in a geometric print, vintage green blouse from the 1940s-1950s with detailed hand embroidery around the edges, Trenton canvas sneakers from about 10 years ago, and of course two pairs of vintage earrings circa 1970s.

Its been about a week since we took the photos and they have since changed the rules. We can now go 500 meters from our houses and a couple other small businesses have opened. Hopefully this all passes sooner than we think.

Sending hugs and happiness, Brooke and Danielle, Colorful Sisters

Tel Aviv Fashion with Boho Handmade Pants

Tel Aviv, Israel

Walking through the streets of Tel Aviv. We stop to take a picture beneath some beautiful red hibiscus flowers hanging over a green painted gate. We head to Shuk HaCarmel, the Carmel Market, to pick up some fresh vegetables and bright red radishes. We make one last stop at one of our favorite bakeries. As we get closer we can smell the freshly baked bread. We hurry to get there. Life is beautiful.

Both pairs of pants are handmade 🙂 The red rose pants are a bit more flared and were made out of a vintage red rose fabric we found (also made the headband from some scraps of fabric we had leftover). The green pair of pants is super comfy and casual. The fabric used to be a set of sheets we found at a thrift shop. #recycle

Visiting Tel Aviv | Israel

Tel Aviv, Israel

Tel Aviv. So much has been said about it and yet there is so much to say. Tel Aviv is such a diverse city. Modern in every sense of the word and yet everywhere there are pockets that attest to its history starting from 1906 when a few plots of land were purchased on a sandy beach that would later become the city of Tel Aviv. There is the artsy neighborhood of Florentine, the beautiful White City, and of course, Tel Aviv’s famous beaches. There are outdoor markets everywhere; Carmel, Sarona, Levinsky. And somewhere you can be sure to find in some cafe or corner juice cart, Israel’s famous drink-Limonana. Lemonade with mint and ice. Limonana is the combination of the Hebrew words limon-meaning lemon and nana-meaning mint. Perfect as you walk through the streets on one of Tel Aviv’s hot summer days.

Visiting Shuk HaPishPeshim | Tel Aviv – Jaffo

Jaffa, Israel

Shuk HaPishpeshim. We don’t know if it’s more fun to just say the word or to wander through Jaffa’s flea market. There are things and things everywhere, treasures waiting to be discovered and haggled over. Retro chairs with thick striped pillows, delicate glass chandeliers, vintage backgammon boards, piles and piles of woven and embroidered fabrics.

Silk scarves, old beach postcards, and dusty old steamer trunks covered with vintage luggage labels. Antique clocks, stacks of old rose and lilac painted dishes, and teacups covered with Forget Me Nots. And under a big mountain of books we find a small, well loved leather book of Hebrew poems with old pictures and pressed flowers hidden in the pages. Then there’s an old aqua blue typewriter waiting for a good story, needlepoint rugs, and tons of trinkets and goodies. Sellers try to pull you in to explore all that they have to offer. Spend hours, or even days, there and I’m sure you could not even come close to seeing everything.

Exploring Jaffa | Israel

Jaffa,Israel

Beautiful Jaffa. An ancient port city on the Mediterranean coast. Here Jonah embarked on his famous journey that would take him into the belly of a whale. Here millions of pilgrims for hundreds of years began their journey to the Holy Land and Jerusalem. Jaffa was the first sight weary travelers would see. We stroll the ancient cobblestoned streets. Everything looks like a chalk pastel drawing of pinks, greens, blues, and yellows that melt into a tropical delight. The streets are lined with palm trees, a whimsical wonderland. There are quaint cafes, fresh squeezed juice stands on every corner, and boutiques, one after another along the narrow streets, all of this a few minutes walk from the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.
