HANDMADE BATHING SUITS. Designed and sewn by us 😊
It was Saturday night. The Prime Minister went live on TV to announce an almost total lock down to be enforced in the next coming days. My immediate thought? No, it was not of toilet paper or hand sanitizer or 800 boxes of pasta. Bright and early the next day I ran (actually biked) to Nahalat Binyamin-Israel’s fabric central. If we were going to be stuck inside for God knows how long- WE NEEDED FABRIC.
Spent half the day in about a dozen of my favorite fabric stores, sending countless pictures and videos for consultation to Brooke who was at work, and finally by the end of the day, came home with a bag full of goodies.
So here are two of the amazing bathing suits we have made since this quarantine began. One high wasted one piece with tie belt for extra cinching at the waist and one two piece ruffled itsy bitsy teeny weeny purple polka dot bikini. The hat was a vintage thrift find our mom sent us ages ago and this awesome bamboo fence and palm tree? Our backyard 🙂
The inspiration for both of these bathing suits actually came from the pictures below. We often see something we like in a shop window or online but don’t like the print or the material and we know we can easily make the same thing but more to our liking.
We were both VERY happy with the results and are more than ready for when we can go back to the beach. (Despite the extraordinarily tropical look, we took the photo shoot in our backyard as we are still in semi lock down in Israel and can only go about 500 meters from the house)
Hope you enjoy the creations 💜
